What Queen's Commerce actually looks at

The application has two parts. Pretty much everyone who applies has the grades, so the supplemental (the Kira interview) ends up deciding most offers. It's also the part your student can still work on.

Your mentor stays with you into first year

The coaching wraps up at decision day, but your mentor doesn't go anywhere. Your student shows up in Kingston already knowing someone in the program.

Someone who already knows them

Your mentor is a current Queen's Commerce student in your field of interest. By the time September comes, they already know your story and you know theirs.

The skills carry over

Being able to tell a clear story, talk on camera and write under time pressure comes up again in club interviews, case competitions and internship applications.

What is the Kira Talent interview?

The platform Queen's Commerce uses for its supplemental application. Every applicant completes a written response (10 minutes, 335 words) and a video response (2 minutes to prepare, 2 to record) in one sitting. There's no live interviewer, just the student on camera answering a question they've never seen.

My student has strong grades. Do they still need this?

Every applicant needs at least a 90% average to be considered, so good grades alone won't get you an offer. What usually decides it is the supplemental. Students who arrive without a clear narrative, practiced stories or time on camera tend to underperform their marks.

Is there a minimum average to join?

Yes, 90%. Queen's Commerce won't consider applicants below a 90% top-six average, so we hold students to the same bar. You'll also need English, Calculus and Vectors and one more 4U math, each at 80% or higher.

How does the performance fee work?

70% of the fee is a performance fee, and we only charge it if your student receives an offer from Queen's Commerce. If they complete the program and don't get in, it's never charged. The other 30% covers the work completed regardless of outcome and is non-refundable.

Do you guarantee admission?

No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Decisions are made solely by Queen's University. What we can promise is a clearer story, a stronger supplemental and a more confident interview than your student would have without structured preparation.

Are sessions virtual?

Yes. All calls and mentor sessions are on Zoom, so students anywhere in Canada can take part.

When should we start?

Whenever works for you. The program runs eight weeks from the day you join, and the earlier you start, the more time there is before Kira. Spots are limited each cycle.
